Our client in Reading operates in the pharmaceutical industry.


Description

This standalone HR Manager role in central Reading incorporates managing the HR function for the UK (circa 2/3rds of the role), and being responsible for managing the office (circa 1/3rd of the role).

Your key responsibilities will be as follows -

HR Management

* Employee relations management (issues and change management).
* Managing absence & sickness.
* Poor performance, exit management, disciplinaries, grievances.
* Employee satisfaction and employee motivation / work process improvement.
* Performance management and performance coaching.
* Learning and development.
* Recruitment and retention: recruitment assessment and campaigns.
* Managing talent and future capability.
* Payroll, Reward (benefits) advice and administration.
* Policy and procedures implementation.
* Employment law updating.
* Managing HR budgets.

Office Management

* Office software oversight, with IT provider, arranging installation and tracking.
* Oversight of office record management.
* Office expenditure and budget management.
* Maintaining the condition of the office and arranging for necessary repairs.
* Overseeing office-specific Induction activities.
* Health and safety management and custody of health & safety.
* Testing of electrical equipment and safety devices; fire drills, first aid provision.
* May include support of office conferences.


Profile

To be a strong applicant for this standalone HR Manager role in Reading, your profile will look like -

* A strong Generalist HR background including experience in Employee Relations, managing sickness/absence, recruitment, coaching and up-skilling staff, managing talent, employee engagement, policy and procedure work, and Payroll and Benefits management.
* You will be happy working in a standalone HR role in an SME business.
* You will also ideally have some experience in Office Management/providing some level of office support.
* The CIPD qualification would be a distinct advantage.
* You will have a mind that lends itself to process and analytics, and will have the desire to bring these to the fore in the delivery of your role.
* There is no parking so you must be able to commute to central Reading under your own steam.
* You will be an excellent communicator, able to build trusting relationships with a range of personalities.
* You will also be perceptive and intuitive, able to adeptly and subtlely read themes and moods within the workforce.
