Head of HR - UK & Ireland - based Lincolnshire and UK/Ireland wide -plus car and other benefits. This role is being recruited for in partnership with Ruth Hardy at Hays Human Resources on an exclusive and retained basis.

Your new company
This large UK wide business has multiple sites UK wide with over 8000 employees, with a mix of blue and white collar across all business activities. The business has been going through an exciting period of strategic planning, growth and acquisitions and you will be part of the Leadership team spearheading this activity for Human Resources from both a strategic and operational perspective.

Your new role
This is an exciting role, working as part of the Senior Leadership Team, reporting to the Vice President of Group HR. You will be responsible for the UK and business wide people plan, linking this with the overall business strategy - however you will also be "hands on " in the operational HR partnering and management activities, being visible and be able to build a strong rapport across the organisation. From the strategic angle you will be responsible for the people and growth strategy including mergers / acquisitions, new initiatives / changes, cost savings, reorganisations, talent / succession and various "hot topic" projects etc. This role will also be very hands on operationally - being the wider business "Expert" on all matters HR - having a thorough knowledge of employment law and HR updates will mean you can effectively inform the business on the best way to proceed both strategically and operationally, and in the future development of the business. You will be involved in Trade Unions relationships, legislative changes and relating them to organisational Policies & Procedures, HR Processes and also new HR Systems/reporting changes. You will manage and further develop a HR team based in Lincolnshire and smaller provision in Ireland - ensuring the teams and staff - provide a 1st class HR operational and partnering provision. You will be based at the Lincolnshire site 40-50% of your time - then travel around the UK sites and Ireland the rest of the time

What you'll need to succeed
The successful applicant will have experience at working at Senior Leadership Team level, both strategically and operationally - ideally from an operational, mix of blue/white collar staff environment - with Trade Union exposure. You will have experience of working with business leaders to further develop and maintain high performing teams, aswell as managing a wider HR team and its HR partnering provision. Ideally you will be CIPD Qualified or working towards this. This role will suit an individual with a real "passion for the discipline " of HR with a curious and inquisitive nature. Be challenged by change and improvements to "make a difference". Someone who has a key interest in managing and coaching a HR team to be a true "business partner" to the organisation.
