Margot Johnson, group executive director of workforce and OD, MFT
Shaping a Single Hospital Service that goes above and beyond the expectations of the community, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is seeking three directors of HR to work across six dynamic hospitals. And you could be just the person to take on one of these epic challenges.
Why choose one of these roles?
MFT recognises the importance of putting in place exceptional leadership both in our hospitals and corporately to work together to ensure the success of our newly formed group.
At hospital level, you will, together with other hospital directors of HR and OD, form a team of dedicated hospital leaders, complemented and supported by the soon to be recruited director of workforce governance and quality, who will work as a close partner to you, assisting you in setting direction for the people strategy of your hospital.
Enjoying a supportive network, these positions offer a unique opportunity to dissect and address the needs of busy hospitals that have the potential to set standards nationwide. With the turnover of each hospital ranging from £130 million to £470 million, and staff extending from 1,607 staff through to 5,449, the size and scale of these positions make them a once-in-a-lifetime challenge.
All three hospitals are highly valued within their communities, and now we need vibrant and engaging individuals to inspire change where it is needed, ensuring our committed staff are working to the best of their abilities.
With your clear HR and organisational development guidance at the helm of this exciting period of change, we’ll ensure you have the support you need to implement our vision. We will be with you every step of the way to support the delivery of your strategies and concepts, positioning your hospital as one that provides high calibre results time and time again.
Why this Trust?
Combining the support of an innovative academic science centre with a commitment to precision medicine and compassionate care, MFT is at the forefront of medical excellence and world-class research potential.
Formed in October 2017 as a result of a merger between University Hospitals of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) and Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT), we are proud to be the largest Trust in England and the third largest provider of specialist services in the NHS. As such, we offer an unrivalled level of expertise that is enhanced by the removal of organisational boundaries.
With the aim of providing an exceptional level of care to those in Manchester, Trafford and beyond, we are now excited about what we can achieve in the immediate and long-term future. We have the facilities and people in place – we now need highly skilled directors of HR and OD to guide our potential and ensure we continue to meet the expectations of our local community.
How will these roles advance your career?
Shaping what we’re capable of both now and in years to come, all six hospitals have the potential to set standards that other hospitals will want to emulate.
Thanks to your engagement and development capabilities, our staff will be highly desirable to other employers – but with your well-considered retention strategies, we’ll nurture an environment in which our employees are keen to remain within the Trust.
And of course, when you join a group of this size, there are always plenty of development and career progression opportunities. You just need to come to us with the creativity and ambition to realise your full potential, and we’ll help you achieve your goals.
