More people apply for jobs in January than any other month of the year, according to the latest data from People Management’s specialist job board, PM Jobs.
PM Jobs saw a 28% increase in job applications per job in January 2018, compared to the yearly average.*
Not only are there more overall applications, which rose by a conclusive 43%, but January proves the best time to hire with more applications per posting than at any other time of the year.*
Whilst January has long been known as a peak time for job applications after a slow December, these figures show that it significantly tops other application spikes in early spring and autumn.
It’s not surprising with ‘Find a new job’ ranking as one of the Top 10 ‘New Year’s Resolutions’** and an Investors in People (IIP) survey discovering that 47% of the UK workforce were looking for new job opportunities in 2018.*** A trend we expect to continue into 2019.
