Can you tell us a bit more about the CIPD lecturer role you’re recruiting for?

We’re looking for a creative and qualified HR professional to join the business team as a CIPD lecturer to deliver on the full range of CIPD courses at the college, from level 3 through to level 7. In return, we will offer you the help and support you need to develop the skills and experience to be an inspirational and effective teacher. As a lecturer within the business & management department, you will deliver co-ordinated, integrated learning programmes, ensuring learners receive a high quality learning experience. What kind of person would succeed in this role?

A HR professional looking to make the move into a career in teaching. Applicants should be CIPD qualified up to level 7 and interested in gaining a teaching qualification. You will be expected to use innovation within your teaching and assessing, utilising e-learning opportunities where appropriate. The role would suit someone who is flexible and self-motivated.

Why would a HR professional want to take on this role?

A HR professional who wants to move into teaching would gain many career benefits from taking on this CIPD lecturer role, including reduced class contact for staff who are new to teaching and an excellent CPD programme. For the initial period, as you would be new to the teaching profession, you would not be required to fulfil extra-curricular activities or staff cover - this will give you the headspace to settle in and make a successful transition from your HR role.

What makes the college a unique and wonderful place to work?

The people. We have a fantastically supportive team across the college and provide regular CPD and training for all staff on new ways of working and the quality delivery of teaching and learning. We also offer some fantastic employee benefits including flexible working, generous annual leave entitlement, childcare vouchers, a healthcare scheme, on-site parking, an employee rewards scheme and discounts at the college beauty salon, travel shop, restaurant and florist.

Supportive and professional. Our team members come from a variety of professional backgrounds such as CIPD and AAT, which allows the sharing of good practice and excellent team work. We also have a new staff community with regular meetings and planned development activities, which are supported by a professional tutor and an online Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). We celebrate our staff success through regular staff celebration events and staff awards and have a range of enrichment activities for staff to enjoy.

What opportunities for career development does the college offer?

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to progress upwards within the CIPD lecturer role, from lecturer A to lecturer B where you would take on greater course co-ordination responsibilities.  You will receive ongoing mentoring and coaching from professional tutors and your line manager. And you will benefit from opportunities to work across the college and with other teams on a range of projects and strategies.

What exciting projects are you working on?

We recently received a multi-million pound investment across our Wigan and Leigh Centres to provide students and teachers with top of the range facilities, resources and teaching and learning environments. We are currently working with partners to develop degree apprenticeships which is an exciting area of growth. Now is a great time to join us on our journey to becoming an outstanding college.
