Head of People Development

At Careys - We Care

We cultivate innovation - encourage ideas - nurture a sense of belonging - challenge the status quo.
We do things differently.

Having experience in the field will not be the reason you progress in this application. What we are looking for is what you are motivated by, what you care for, and your intent.

About Us:

Carey Group is a market-leading, ambitious and inspirational organisation which continues to evolve and grow. This is possible because of our exceptional people, our exemplary staff retention levels and the continuing investment in our people and their journeys with us. Our people are at the heart of our organisation and our exemplary and industry-leading success is down to developing our staff in line with the core family values set out by our founders. People who work for Careys are part of our large extended family, whether they hold a position on-site or in one of our offices.

The Vision:

We want all our people to feel Carey Group is one of the best places to work in the world. Your role is to shape our ‘people-plan’ together with our Leadership Teams. There is already a bold vision and structure in place, but this is still very new and our organisation needs further vision, guidance, creation, programme-management and structure - pulling the business together to create a strategy where learning is aligned with performance. You will inspire and guide our Leadership and Operational Teams and play an integral role in the delivery of our strategic goals.

About the Opportunity:
The purpose of the Head of People Development Role is to create the conditions for our people to be brilliant. This means we want to ensure our people development plans are not only the best in the industry, but set an example globally.  It means our on-boarding, induction and talent management program is world leading. It means that the way we develop our people is as uplifting, as it is considered, as it is challenging, as it is inspiring. And it means that the development of our people - both personally & professionally - is always priority. This person will design this and help lead us into our impressive and exciting future.

The Challenges

Our industry is exceptionally rewarding and exciting - but due to its fast-faced and at times high-risk nature, can also be heavily weighed by process and procedure. Our organisation has a commitment for excellence and simplicity combined and is going through a sustained period of growth, change and improvement. As such, we will be looking to our Head of People Development to map and evaluate our current processes, then set the Vision & Direction of the People Development strategy moving forwards into the future. Exceptional communication, relationship building and a core focus on teamwork will be the key to overcoming the challenges of this role.

We are looking for:

  • A true visionary
  • A leader, who believes work should be inspiring each and everyday
  • Someone who is inspired by a ‘blank canvas’ - creates ideas, challenges the norm and finds truly innovative ways of doing things.
  • An inspiring communicator, able to hold a room and take them with you on a grand vision.
  • Someone who has bold opinions - but who is also able to reflect, analyse and absorb feedback
  • Holds the leadership team to account on our people programme –
  • Self-assurance and the confidence to purposely drive results while constantly problem-solving and engaging the commitment of others.
