HR Consultant / Learning and Development Consultant

Swindon Borough Council has ambitious plans to drive our broad portfolio of services improvements and organisational development forward in the coming years through our Swindon Programme.

The Swindon Programme is about transforming the way we work to make our services, systems and processes better for both our customers and our staff. For customers it’s about serving them right first time and doing it digitally wherever possible, to make it quicker and more convenient. By doing this we will improve the service the Council offers to our residents, improve the Council as a place to work for our staff and achieve the £30m saving we need to by 2020.

To meet our aspirations  we have increased the capacity of our People Development team to ensure that our corporate HR, OD and L&D support is directly aligned to the diverse needs of our business areas right across our unitary organisation. We are looking for some great people to join our multi discipline team, who already have experience from public, private and third sector organisations, to partner with our colleagues across the council to further develop our high performing organisation. In our new model of service, we have created clear career pathways across the HR, OD and L&D functions so that opportunities exist to develop within the team and be involved in shaping some of key programmes which will propel the work of our Council and Swindon as a place towards our future vision.

Some of these programmes include us embedding a strong workforce planning process and culture across the organisation, examining progressive and modern approaches to pay and reward, looking at how we can support the Health and Wellbeing of our staff and looking at how we align our entire organisation towards our vision using management information, our performance frameworks and management and leadership development programmes
