Our HR team supports both our regulated business and the wider Wessex Water group of companies. Our customers’ needs are diverse and will become increasingly complex as our organisation develops and grows. 

As Head of HR, your primary responsibility will be to contribute to the development and promotion of our People Strategy, in line with the aims and objectives of the Wessex Water Group, ensuring our group businesses are supported by the appropriate people and operational plans. 

Leading a team of experienced HR Business Partners, the Head of HR is expected to combine HR best practice and innovative ways of working from other sectors to ensure that Wessex Water is an Employer of Choice and that we provide an effective, efficient and professional HR consultancy service to our customers (managers and staff).

Day to day, you will be leading our HR Business Partners as they implement HR strategy, and will be responsible for on devising HR policy and managing projects encompassing reward and incentive design, job evaluation and wellbeing among others.  

You will act as senior lead on employee relations issues, being an escalation point for complex cases. You will encourage and promote our People processes, in particular our quest to grow more of our own talent, and be a champion for our diversity and engagement agendas.

This is a high profile role and so you’ll probably be established at this level of HR management or be a senior HR Business Partner looking for their next career move. In addition to your generalist HR background, it is vital that you have excellent knowledge of current employment law, as well as previous reward management experience, including experience of reviewing and recommending appropriate total reward packages for an evolving organisation and design of incentive/bonus schemes. 

Alongside your technical expertise, you will have excellent people management and communication skills. You will be engaging with a wide range of senior stakeholders so you need to demonstrate your influencing ability. It is likely that you’ll be qualified in a relevant degree or be qualified by experience to a similar level and you will already be a Chartered Member of the CIPD.
