Lancashire & Cumbria Constabularies

Joint Head of Learning & Development

Ref. S201-17a

£47,442 to £52,894

Preston and Penrith

Lancashire and Cumbria Constabularies are two of the top-performing police forces in the country. We’re dedicated to maintaining that status, and to delivering best quality policing services. An approach that, as Joint Head of Learning & Development, you’ll embrace wholeheartedly.

In this unique dual role, you’ll lead the implementation of key policing training within two forces in the North West. Cumbria and Lancashire Constabulary collaborate on delivering learning and development, and you’ll take overall management responsibility of the function within Cumbria Police HQ in Penrith and Lancashire Police HQ in Hutton, Preston.

With the launch of some progressive new initiatives, it’s a truly exciting time to join us. Both the Police Educational Qualification Framework and the Professionalisation of Policing Programme promise to shape the future of the department – and, by working closely with HR departments, you’ll play a key role in making them a real success.

To apply, you’ll need a level 6 qualification in management or education. You should also be able to demonstrate a strong background in facilitating and delivering major organisational change. While experience of police-specific training would be ideal, it’s more important that you can show ability for enforcing and negotiating at a senior level.

Interviews will be held on Wednesday 20th September 2017 at Penrith and will also include a presentation.

Closing date is 4.00pm on Monday 28 August 2017.
