I am currently recruiting for a high profile, permanent position, within a prestigious organisation in Cambridge city centre.
This role is within walking distance of the train station and would offer the opportunity for people wishing to commute into Cambridge for their next career challenge.

The purpose of this role is to instigate a step change in the UK's approach to employment policy development and the capability of line managers of UK employees, to ensure achievement of the required employment standards & practices and to reduce the cost of doing ER operations.

Typical Accountabilities would include:

* Leads UK employment policy development, in conjunction with the UK ER Manager and HRLC
* Policy development includes;

* external benchmarking / insight
* policy & procedures research
* understanding business strategy & drivers within each function
* understanding what is currently working / not working and implications
* costing our policy approaches and suggestions for reduced costs / improved employment standards
* generating options/solutions to business issues
* drafting policies, procedures, policies, templates, tools
* defining practices and procedures to achieve the policy principles / aims
* stakeholder management across the organisation
* project management of implementation of policies (including all upstream/downstream inter-dependencies)

* Lead a programme of continuous improvement of current employment policies and identify / fill gaps in employment policy areas
* Agree policy principles and ensure all policies are developed in-line with those principles, especially the simplicity agenda
* Active member of external policy forums within and outside the industry and involvement in groups / associations that influence employment legislation / government direction on employment law
* Actively review ER and HR MI to identify areas for policy development / line manager development
* Partner with MyHR to understand the issues line managers require more support with & implement appropriate solutions
* Design and implement a capability programme to transfer capability to the line to manage ER matters more effectively / efficiently, including an annual skills audit / gap analysis
* Work with internal / external L&D providers to design & deliver appropriate programmes for managers of UK employees
* Link with all other countries to ensure policy and practices are in-line with company ethics, values, codes, principles and standards
* Work with legal / external legal to understand legislative changes & impact on policy development
* Lead the design and delivery of the line manager on-line resources / tools to enable line managers to be able to carry out ER related matters effective & efficiently
* Carry-out internal customer satisfaction research
* Lead across the HR Function a spirit of continuous improvement through implementing a UK employment policy forum
* Maintain an ER operations P&L to identify where most resources / money is spent throughout the ER operation and where investment / changes could reduce costs / improve ROI
* Advise and take part in consultation with Unions / employee representative groups as and when policies need to change
* Own the UK "responsible employment" agenda
* Works closely with PR and internal comms to ensure internal / external stakeholders understand our approaches / stance on employment matters, especially where there is heightened public interest
* Link with all HR areas to integrate the policy agenda and raise awareness of implications of
* Link with employee engagement team and support organisational action planning from the employee engagement survey

Essential Desirable

* Significant experience developing policies in the UK for highly complex / matrixed organisation(s)
* Experience of leading policy development programmes
* Experience of developing / leading programmes designed to improve line manager capability / reduce costs of doing ER operations
* Highly competent at stakeholder and relationship management
* Ability to do cost modelling
* Intermediate level Word, Excel and PowerPoint

* Bachelor's degree
* Ability to use SharePoint
