Diversity and Inclusion Manager

Up to £48,000 per annum

Chelmsford, Essex

Essex is a big county with a complex and diverse population. Essex Police is a force working hard to keep the county safe but also to make sure our force reflects the communities we serve.

We’re determined to continue to strengthen our approach to diversity and inclusion. We’ve restructured our diversity and inclusion function and created a brand new senior leadership role to make sure that the principles we stand for are at the heart of everything we do.

For someone with your expertise in the field, you’ll relish taking a leadership role for diversity and inclusion across the whole of Essex Police. This is certainly a role for a specialist - it will combine balancing leadership, creativity and innovation in this area with the need to deliver inspiring solutions that really enhance services to the public. We need you to bring a sense of challenge, constructive disruption and strategic insight to a vital priority.

We’ll look to you to develop, co-ordinate and implement an innovative, best-practice diversity and inclusion strategy that’s aligned with our culture and service delivery expectations. This will include improving services provided to victims, witnesses and our diverse communities and making sure we comply with relevant legislation. You’ll oversee key D&I work streams, design and promote initiatives that improve current practice, and represent us externally on diversity-related events and meetings.  This is an organisational impact role which will provide you with the opportunity to influence the diversity and inclusion agenda both internally at every level and externally.

CIPD-qualified or equivalent experience, you’ll be able to draw on senior experience of leading a diversity and inclusion function and advising at board level. You should be more than capable of delivering high-level and long-term strategic aims, be passionate, creative and innovative about this area and have a good knowledge of the challenges facing the police service. You’ll also be positive and pragmatic, and capable of reporting to the Head of Human Resource.

This new role will be yours to define and shape. To apply please click 'Apply Now'

To arrange an informal conversation about this opportunity please contact Mandy Cordwell, PA to the Head of Human Resources by email at mandy.cordwell@kent.pnn.police.uk.
