Wakefield

Salary £54,063 - £57,708

West Yorkshire Police is seeking to appoint the Head of Employee Relations to join the New People Senior Leadership Team based in Wakefield.

This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to take up this new and exciting position as we embark on the implementation of a restructured People function.

As a member of the People Senior Leadership Team, you will lead, manage and co-ordinate the delivery of a professional and responsive employee relations service to all staff and managers across the Force.  Your responsibilities will include coaching and advising managers in matters of people policy and complex case management, ensuring the development of effective people management skills for all people leaders across the service.

Eligible candidates will be MCIPD Qualified or hold a similar accreditation. We are looking for candidates with extensive experience in an Employee Relations role, as well as a strong awareness of operational HR management. You will also need significant HR experience of leading high profile programmes of work including consultation and negotiation with Trade Unions, Staff Associations and Senior Management.

This post would suit someone with a history of interpreting and implementing a diverse range of People issues including law, policies and regulations, along with experience of successfully leading a customer focussed team.

The person appointed will have experience of delivering strategies and initiatives which drive employee engagement, combined with a history of managing transfers, restructures and redundancies which include the provision of guidance and coaching of others. You will be a highly developed leader, with excellent negotiation and influencing skills, and the ability to motivate, challenge and engage individuals and teams.

Furthermore, you must be able to deliver organisational objectives and performance improvement in a devolved management structure, and travel around the Force area for business purposes. The successful candidate will be subject to personal and financial vetting checks prior to appointment.

The selection process will be held on 5 March 2018. For further information in relation to this role please contact Kate Sims (People Director) via Gillian Harrison, Resourcing Officer 01924 292089.
