Immediate HR Advisor

Your new company

A large multi-sited UK wide organisation have approached Hays seeking an immediate HR professional to join the organisation on a on-going temporary basis based in Preston.

Your new role

Reporting to the HR Operations Partner, the HR Advisor will provide first line advice and support to the businesses within the defined Region of the Northwest providing appropriate, business focussed advice and solutions. To assist in implementing the people strategy to improve the employee experience.


* To be the first point of contact for all general HR queries.
* Provide advice on people issues, complying with policy, best practice and statutory requirements.
* Support line managers with all employee absences - short/long term sickness, holidays, maternity, paternity, parental, jury service etc
* Ensure appropriate communication is maintained with absent employees.
* Manage all flexible working requests in line with policy.
* Provide input into policy development activities to raise awareness of and ensure compliance with best practice.
* As required and directed, take and produce minutes, notes and actions for people-related meetings such as disciplinary, grievance, investigations, project meetings and others on an ad hoc basis. Monitor actions to ensure delivery to relevant timescales.
* Work with local Management and HR team to ensure training and development plans are implemented.
* Support and work with Recruitment team assist in delivering an effective recruitment service.
* Support line manager with all team level change processes, ensuring the right people have the right information at the right time.
* Support the delivery of ad-hoc projects as required.
* Deputise for HR Operations Partner as required across Region.

What you'll need to succeed


* HR Generalist experience and managing of employee relations issues
* Experience in a multisite or regional role would be advantageous
* Understanding of employment law & and relevant legislation
* Strong organisation and administration skills
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to Influence Line Management
* Resilient character with a tenacious attitude
* Excellent attention to detail
* Responsive and action orientated in approach
* Full driving license
