The world-class information and products that the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) produce are of the utmost importance. Relied on by sailors, fishermen and other marine industries across the globe, we work collaboratively to produce the type of marine geospatial information that allows safe journeys – and opens up doors for global trade efficiency. Used by everyone from commercial shipping organisations to scientists, our products are also used to by the British navy to protect our borders and researchers to understand environmental issues – making for a particularly dynamic environment in which to further your career ambitions.

Our technology capabilities are central to our success. As we move towards being increasingly digital, we therefore need to have access to the best talent. As such, we are seeking an innovative Recruitment Lead to manage this area of our work, in order to devise and implement a resourcing strategy that will continue to meet the evolving needs of our customers. Taking responsibility for the recruitment of all permanent, freelance and contractor technology roles, you will oversee every element of devising a strong pipeline of talent. Working with schools and higher education establishments, you will manage the UKHO careers fair and develop our apprenticeship programmes, plus trainee and internship roles. For more senior roles, you will explore social media, direct advertising and recruitment and you will work with agencies to ensure UKHO is established as an employer of choice. You will also undertake a variety of ad hoc projects relating to tech issues, such as case work and other HR challenges.

With considerable recruitment experience, you will come from a background in which you devised and implemented high-quality resourcing strategies in a similarly fast-paced organisation. You will also have hands-on knowledge of managing employee relations, a good grasp of HR issues and you will be adept at interpreting policies.
