Every school that has joined the trust shares the mission and vision for TSAT: ·Learners are treated as individuals;  ·Every one of the trust learners will have the opportunity to leave their schools fully prepared for successful lives. ·All trust staff will feel valued and be enabled to become exceptional professionals. ·At the heart of all the Trust endeavours is outstanding teaching, high quality learning and highly effective support for individual learner needs. ·The Trust’s unrelenting focus on progress for every learner and engagement with every family will be the touchstone for the work in every TSAT Academy.  ·A culture exists across TSAT of high trust, high support and low threat with common values and a shared moral compass. ·Developing high quality local leadership that ensures the fit to local conditions and needs within carefully constructed structures and approaches. ·The trust has a commitment to the development of high quality learning locally and regionally and this outward face will help to drive the improvement in TSAT.

Background on academy trusts

Academy schools, which are charities run independently of local authority control, now account for 69% of secondary schools and 23% of primaries – and their number is growing all the time.

Many of these schools are grouped together as multi-academy trusts.  If the schools are to fulfil their potential, the trusts need non-executives (known in charity law as trustees) to bring a wide range of skills and experience to help guide strategy, ensure their ambitions can be soundly financed and keep their schools up to the mark delivering for their pupils.

Trusteeship is a voluntary, unpaid role for people who have the energy and skills to make a real contribution to shaping the future of our schools.  You don’t need to have any specialist knowledge of education.
