Director of Human Resources & Organisational Development

St Helena Island, South Atlantic
2 years FTC commencing October 2018

£65k pa, taxable in St Helena

Play a pivotal role in ensuring that the public service delivers for the people of St Helena, by guiding and supporting the Chief Secretary and other senior leaders to achieve their best.

A sub-tropical island of spectacular and beautiful landscapes in the South Atlantic with a warm and friendly population of 4,500, St Helena is a self-governing overseas territory of the UK. It’s now poised for transformation with the recent opening of a brand new international airport offering scheduled commercial air access.

You will own the strategic direction of all HR, OD and L&D initiatives. You must review and develop HR into a value added, enabling service, promoting a culture of learning and innovation that puts people issues at the forefront of strategic planning. Driving change, you will transform delivery across the public service, ensuring it is equipped to respond to future challenges. You will develop a structured approach to work planning, talent management, succession planning and L&D.

As a member of the Core Leadership Team you will contribute to operational management decisions, regular risk assessments, delivery of strategic projects, cross organisational communications and other initiatives, including contributing to Strategic Plan development and other strategies linked to transforming the public service.

Chartered MCIPD or Chartered FCIPD qualified, or equivalent, you will be degree level educated or equivalent in HR Management or OD. With a track record in successful HR transformational and modernisation projects and of delivering successful OD interventions, you will have a strong commitment to customer service and Employee Engagement and solid experience of Employee Relations and Employee Development issues.
