Key Role Responsibilities:

* Ensures the continued availability of competent team members and resources through effective planning, design and delivery of training and development activity; working in partnership with the Leadership team, the HR team and the wider management community.
* Provides effective management and development of the Learning & Development team, encouraging and leading the creation of a constructive culture to achieve the Company's goals.
* Ensures that all learning and development activities support the embedding of company values and alignment to the vision and strategic rocks.
* Ensures that the company complies with its statutory commitments and industry specific operational training needs are met to ensure business compliance and assurance whilst ensuring that such commitments are met in the most effective way possible.
* Coaches, challenges and advises managers in order to embed behaviours and values required to create and maintain a constructive culture.
* Works with colleagues in HR, the Leadership team and wider leadership community to initiate and develop effective talent and career development processes to support business goals.
* Proposes and gains acceptance for budgets and plans to enable the provision and development of sufficient resources and people to match current and future learning and development requirements economically. Controls expenditure to maximise value for money and keep within budget.
* Responsible within own function and across the business from for the promotion of a healthy and safe working environment.
* Procures and develops effective relationships with training or education partners as required to ensure that any training provide to team members is aligned with company values and approach as well as maximises return on investment.
* Supports the delivery of training programmes as appropriate.
* Using KPIs monitor and measure the effectiveness of learning activities in delivery key business outcomes.

Key Relationships:

Leadership team, Heads of Operations, Operations Managers and other functional managers and external training partners



Knowledge & Qualifications:

* Graduate calibre with a strong track record of delivery in a Learning and Development management role.
* Thorough understanding of the drivers of business culture and the development of programmes to embed values and constructive behaviours within an organisation.
* Good understanding of talent management strategies.
* Robust understanding of adult learning styles and their implementation into learning programmes



Experience & Skills:

* Solid practical experience of performing successfully within a learning & development management role within a multi-site, fast paced and operational business.
* Demonstrable experience in design and delivery of both behavioural and procedural based training and development activities.
* Demonstrates a passion for customer service and a flexible approach to working supportively with others in the achievement of the overall Company goals; patient, responsive and demonstrates a positive attitude.
* Demonstrates strong commercial awareness and the need to measure impact and effectiveness of learning activities.
* Goal oriented, flexible and able to work in a dynamic environment.
* Ability to prioritise and organise workload and show good judgement under pressure.
* Proficient in managing multiple projects or priorities and detail orientation.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with impact and influence.
* Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and database management programmes in order to maintain records of information and develop and provide information.
* Demonstrable experience of working with emerging learning technologies, including social learning platforms
* Experience in and understanding of budgeting and business planning processes
* Experienced coach or some experience in coaching is also highly desirable.
