Our client, a renowned legal firm, are looking for a generalist Senior HR Advisor to join their team. This position is based in Cambridge but has regular travel to Norwich.

Your new role

You will be require to provide operational HR expertise to specific business groups and support Leadership Teams on all HR matter. You will also be require to support the HR team ensuring HR initiatives are created, launched and implemented successfully across the firm, and all HR Policies and procedures are up to date.


Drive client group relationships through regular contact and review of business needs

* Establish and maintain credibility with the Local / Departmental leadership team
* Maintain consistency of HR presence and practice across locations
* Become an integrated member of Local/Departmental Management teams and play an active role in engaging and developing operational plans and objectives
* Coach Managers in implementing and developing good people management practices across the business

Maintain an effective balance between local operational demands, overall HR policy and practice, and support implementation of HR initiatives and actions by effecting behavioural change

* Keep the Local/Departmental team appraised of relevant HR developments, internally and externally, providing an understanding of their implications for delivery of business plans and any associated remedial actions
* Deliver training workshops to line management on key HR areas as required

Develop and manage effective internal HR relationships

* Work together to create and implement the HR plan and support the delivery of HR initiatives across the business
* Look for opportunities to continuously improve HR practices

Recruitment and Selection n Identify resourcing needs and work in partnership with resourcing team to ensure appropriate approvals and sourcing of applicants

Employee Relations n Provide advice and support to managers on performance issues e.g. capability, disciplinary, grievances ensuring timely resolution n Provide case management support for maternity, paternity, carer/adoption leave, long term sick etc. Performance Management n Implement the performance management framework through line managers via the appraisal and ensure completion within prescribed timeframes n Assist and advise line managers on the appraisal process

Employee Development and Succession Planning

* Support succession planning processes and practices across local and departmental teams
* Work in partnership with management teams to identify and develop high potential employees
* Support managers with team and individual development plans, ensuring capability is aligned to strategy

People Measures and Reporting n Ensure the integrity of all HR data by ensuring personnel data is up to date n Prepare dashboards and reports for monthly/Quarterly Management Meetings n Support regular audits of employee data n Provide relevant data to the business as required Salary Administration n Assist with Annual Salary Review process n Ensure all promotions and change of roles within Local/Departmental responsibility are managed within the policy framework n Provide support on Research & benchmarking salaries/benefits against internal/external comparators Stakeholder Management n Regional Management & Senior Management Teams Managers and Employees n HR Team n External Local HR Network

What you'll need to succeed

- CIPD qualified and experience of working in genuine HR partnership with business teams
- Working knowledge of HR best practice policies and procedures with experience in providing advice and support to senior managers
- Great communication skills (verbal and written) to communicate with a diverse client group
- Ability to problem solve logically within specified timeframes
- Experience in leading projects and working effectively in teams
- Ability to identify process improvement and understand how to manage stakeholder expectations
- A commitment to providing great customer service
