You’re an inspirational Training and Development Manager who instils confidence and enhances knowledge in a wide range of audiences. 

You have experience in developing and delivering bespoke training material on a range of topics to a high standard, which you’d now like to use to help us deliver fair and effective hearings. You are passionate about supporting individuals and can use your experience of coaching and strategic thinking to ensure we have the right people in the right roles. Consider joining the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS), as a Training and Development Manager, based in Manchester.

Although operationally separate, the MPTS is part of the General Medical Council (GMC). The General Medical Council helps to protect patients and improve medical education and practice in the UK by setting standards for students and doctors. We support them in achieving (and exceeding) those standards, and take action when they are not met. The MPTS are responsible for the hearings stage of this process. Join us as a Training and Development Manager and you’ll support the MPTS to train and develop both staff and those individuals that carry out decision making.

You’ll carry out a broad range of activity which will include identifying training needs, presenting your priorities to the board, creating and delivering a range of training programmes that meet high standards, and supporting us to develop our staff through a range of techniques and initiatives. You’ll work closely alongside a team that supports the development of the MPTS and will use this to help you consider how best your contributions can support that within your role.

It goes without saying that interpersonal skills are essential in this role, as is previous experience of training and developing individuals at various levels. The ability to understand legal and procedural training needs will stand you in good stead, as will your experience of supporting individuals to achieve success.
