The Office for Students (OfS) was established by the Higher Education and Research Act in 2017 and became fully operational in April 2018. OfS`s primary aim is to ensure that English higher education is delivering positive outcomes for students - past, present, and future. The Resources, Finance & Transformation directorate provides critical services to the OfS to enable the organisation to deliver its strategy. The directorate ensures that the OfS complies with statutory and other public sector requirements, identifies and manages risks and opportunities and co-ordinates efforts across the organisation to be efficient and effective.

The purpose of the role `Payroll Manager` is to work with the Head of Operational Finance to ensure that the finance team`s objectives are delivered. Activities include; coordinating, operating and maintaining the staff payroll; ensuring the timely delivery of returns and payments; and ensuring that the relevant stakeholders receive accurate information relating to payroll and pension schemes. The role requires engagement with HR and Finance to produce information relating to pay and pensions and to ensure that integrated services and systems work effectively. The role is responsible for acting as a respected source for payroll advice within OfS. Additionally, the role requires engagement with HMRC to understand how taxation affects remuneration of OfS staff and members.

In this role, the postholder may support SRU projects from time to time.

- and experience in contributing to the continuous improvement of their area of responsibility.

Location: Bristol based however some travel may be required.

The role is full time; however, we will consider job share and part time applicants (minimum 0.8 FTE).
