Your new role

HR Policy, Procedure & Practice


* To participate in the disciplinary and grievance process as appropriate. This includes note taking during investigations and hearings, collating report papers for disciplinary hearings, arranging disciplinary hearings and grievance meetings and sending out the necessary documentation, act as a liaison point for correspondence.

* To act as first point of contact for all HR queries and to provide basic general HRM advice to managers, HR colleagues, staff and external agencies.

Recruitment & Selection


* Act as a co-ordinator for recruitment initiatives producing all administration documents and preparing correspondence to send to applicants, check and record documentation relating to Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) forms.

* To participate in the recruitment, assessment and selection of staff. Following training, this will include interviewing, short-listing, facilitating assessment centres as appropriate.

* Provide appropriate advice to managers in accordance with policy and best practice.


Attendance Management


* To support managers by providing initial HR advice on individual cases to ensure staff who are absent from work are supported appropriately.

* To arrange sickness audits, meetings and hearings in liaison with managers.

* To arrange MAP formal hearings on behalf of the Human Resources Manager.

* Calculate Occupational Sick Pay Entitlements when required.

* To update monthly long term sickness schedules on a regular basis and undertake any necessary actions such as monitoring medical certificates, arranging Occupational Health appointments, arranging reviews and hearings and co-ordinating and undertaking all administration and correspondence.

Training & Development


* To assist in the preparation and administration of training programmes at corporate and local level.

General Administration Duties


* To act as a point of contact for HR enquiries both internal and external via telephone, email

* To arrange meetings on behalf of the Human Resources Manager such as exit interviews, maternity meetings and Flexible Rostering etc.

* To co-ordinate and manage actions relating to Third Party Claims including liaising with solicitors and collating information from payroll.

* Prepare payroll documentation relating to salary amendments for the HR Manager (authorised to sign when necessary).

* To co-ordinate, maintain and manage records as directed by the HR Manager, including those relating to Maternity and Leavers.


What you'll need to succeed
You will be available immediately or at short notice. CIPD qualified with excellent employment law knowledge
A background in the NHS is desirable. Other essential criteria is excellent attention to detail, good interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise confidently with all levels of staff. You will be able to work on your own initiative with minimal supervision.
