Head of Human Resources
The UK DRI is a new research-based enterprise that is growing rapidly and will soon number many hundreds of researchers. Supporting them is a seasoned and professional management and administrative group based in the UK DRI headquarters at UCL. We are looking for a Head of Human Resources who will overlook all HR for the whole institute. This involves the development of recruitment strategies to attract and retain international top scientists, but also coordination and integration of the different HR policies at our other UK DRI research centres at the University of Cambridge, Cardiff University, the University of Edinburgh, Imperial College London and King's College London. The Head of Human Resources will play a crucial role in the creation of a collaborative, ambitious and constructive working style throughout the institute. S/he will work with the HR teams at UCL and the other universities hosting centres to ensure that the objectives and needs of the DRI are met, and work in close collaboration with the Director-CSO and Director-COO to provide guidance in HR affairs to the whole institute. Some travel within the UK will be required.
Applicants must be educated to degree level and/or have a significant level of skills acquired in a Head of HR (or equivalent) role and CIPD or equivalent qualification. Experience as an HR professional in a research environment is highly desirable. They must have the ability to influence at senior level, to communicate well both verbally and in writing, to meet deadlines and handle stressful situations, and be highly numerate. Good inter-personal skills are paramount. An ability to work collaboratively with the local HR teams, a capacity for proactive and creative independent thought, and sound judgement are also required.
The post is available immediately for five years in the first instance and is funded by the UK DRI. The post is a Grade 10 and as such comes with a competitive salary and benefits package.
You should apply for this post through UCL's online recruitment – http://www.ucl.ac.uk/hr/jobs where you can download a job description and person specification using ref: 1777994.
For queries regarding the position, please contact Dr. Adrian Ivinson, UK DRI COO (email: a.ivinson@ucl.ac.uk). For queries regarding the application process, please contact Oksana Shapoval, HR Officer, UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology (email: IoN.HRAdmin@ucl.ac.uk).
Closing date: 12 December 2018
We particularly welcome female applicants and those from an ethnic minority, as they are under-represented within UCL at this level.
