Group Manager for Human Resources

2 year Fixed Term
An opportunity has become available to join Mid Devon District Council as the Human Resources Group Manager and to contribute to the continuous programme of change.
This is an exciting opportunity for an approachable, positive and fully qualified HR professional who is able to grow and adapt as the needs of the business change. You will need to be able to challenge and influence demanding, driven and ambitious senior managers and have intellect, gravitas and a proven track record of managing within the HR/OD environment.
You will be directly responsible for Human Resources, Learning and Development, Payroll and Health and Safety for the Council reporting to the Director of Corporate Affairs and Business Transformation and have an opportunity help the Council shape its HR provision for the next few years.
An important part of this role is your membership in the Group Managers cohort of Mid Devon who are the key players in shaping the future effectiveness & performance of the authority. Mid Devon is looking to explore all service options for the future so experience of shared service working would be advantageous.
You will need to be confident in your approach and have proven relationship building skills together with exemplary skills of persuasion and the ability to assist business areas to review their working practices and ensure that workforce planning across the Council is developed.
This is initially a two year fixed term post but could develop into a permanent position.
