Reporting to the CEO as part of the Senior Management Team, you will have overall responsibility for First Mile’s people strategy; making sure we hire fantastic people, develop, and support them. You will help us make First Mile an incredible place to work and play a fundamental role in driving our culture.
This is a critical role for a business that will double in size over the next three years. You will have a real chance to make a difference and lead our people strategy over an exciting period of growth.
The Role
You will have overall responsibility for people at First Mile, with a team of six reports for Talent, HR, and Learning and Development. With a key focus on;
- Talent and Performance
Agree and implement a Talent Strategy and processes, that deliver effective, modern, and consistent Hiring, Performance Management, and Learning and Development, to be adopted across the business.
- Culture
Alongside the SMT, take ownership for the Culture Strategy ensuring we consistently activate our incredible culture and ensure we live this through our behaviours and values.
- HR Support
Ensure we have a solid foundation of HR support available to the entire business. Using a mixture of data analysis and front-line support to ensure staff feel supported, and that First Mile takes a pro-active approach to Diversity and Inclusivity and equal opportunities.
From you, we are looking for proven experience at a senior level, in making a powerful impact in the above areas as well as an entrepreneurial and innovative spirit. You need to be highly personable, have excellent commercial understanding, and a passion for building amazing teams and culture.

In return we offer a competitive salary and annual bonus. There will be 25 days holiday, rising to 30 with service, and lots of employee benefits to boot.
