With markets changing fast and the UK leaving the EU, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) are undergoing rapid business growth, presenting an exciting opportunity for a proven Assistant HR Director to be the expert lead on the CMA’s people management and employee relations strategy.

The CMA is the UK’s world-leading government body established to make sure competition works in consumers’ favour and businesses treat their customers fairly. What we do really matters and makes a difference to people’s lives. To ensure this continues and to enable the CMA to be a high performing organisation, we need to continue to build the capacity, capability and commitment of our people.

As Assistant HR Director (Employee Relations), you will play a pivotal role, enabling the high performance of individuals by working in partnership with CMA senior leaders to deliver strategic solutions.

With a client-facing, diagnostic and solution focused approach, you will coach senior leaders on the implementation and delivery of people management initiatives, policies and solutions, sharing your insight to enhance their understanding and advise them on appropriate solutions. You will also provide support with business change and organisational development projects.

In conjunction with the HR Director, you will also lead the ongoing review and development of the HR Strategy and lead performance management across the CMA. You will also lead the effective management of employee relations casework and the ongoing review and development of people policies and practices.

To be successful in your application you will need to be Chartered MCIPD (or equivalent), and will have extensive HR Business Partner experience at a senior managerial level within a professional services and/or public sector organisation. Your extensive experience will include managing others, in particular, coaching staff and managers to build capability and enhance performance. You will be capable of designing, developing and implementing change management programmes, using data and taking a curious and analytical approach to overcoming barriers to change and improve business performance.

All CMA staff enjoy generous benefits, including an excellent pension scheme, at least 25 days leave (increasing to 30 over five years), and generous maternity/paternity leave provision. You can also take advantage of interest-free season ticket loans, a cycle to work scheme, our employee wellbeing programme and favourable consideration of flexible working.

Closing date: 18 January 2018.
