An exciting opportunity has arisen for an outstanding Organisational Development (OD) professional to join the Organisational Development & Leadership (ODL) team as an OD Consultant.

This is an exciting time to be working at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, following the acquisition of Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals in 2014, we are now one of the biggest NHS Trusts in the UK, delivering care to patients through our three main hospitals: Barnet, Chase Farm and Royal Free. In 2017 the trust moved to a group model as part of the NHS Vanguard programme, setting up and leading a group of NHS providers who share services and resources in order to improve the experience of our patients and staff.

As a member of the ODL team you will contribute to the implementation, and continuous improvement, of the Royal Free London Leadership Framework offer and delivery of the OD plan as agreed by the Group Executive Committee. You’ll deliver best practice in OD, leadership and learning approaches to maximise organisational health and effectiveness.

The OD consultants contribute to the work of the Royal Free London by offering a consultancy service to senior leaders across the group in adapting to change and growing internal capability to support delivery of organisational strategy and objectives. The OD consultancy service focus on behaviours, culture, leadership, learning and values and works with a wide range of stakeholders internal and external to the trust.

The successful candidate for this role will need to demonstrate experience in the following:


  • Designing and delivering successful OD interventions that have had beneficial impact on organisational performance
  • Of using a consultancy approach within a complex organisational system
  • Providing advice and guidance to leaders and managers across the trust on all aspects of Organisational development   and leadership development
  • Facilitation of large and small group interventions
  • Providing individual and team coaching
  • Facilitating Action Learning Sets (ALS)

The post is being offered as a developmental role band 8a, with a 12 month development plan working towards a band 8b role. Should applicants meet all the 8b criteria in the Person Specification the post can be offered at 8b.
