In 2014, two London councils – Newham and Havering – came together to create oneSource: an innovative shared services organisation. Joined by Bexley in 2016, oneSource now includes over 1,000 staff who remain employed by their ‘home’ councils. Cited as a leading example of shared local government services on a significant scale, oneSource now needs a capable Director to lead a forward-thinking HR&OD function.

This is your chance to lead the development of a successful and modern strategic HR&OD function. Through inspirational leadership, you’ll see that oneSource provides partners with a flexible, solution-focused HR&OD service offering expert advice and support.

Part of the Shared Services Senior Management team, reporting to the Executive Director, you’ll be responsible for the function’s strategy, policies and overall direction. You’ll also lead business partnering and operational HR functions, ensuring they flex to meet each individual council’s challenges, culture and goals. With Organisational Development strategy and performance management processes also part of your remit, this is a varied role that calls for in-depth knowledge of HR/OD practice.

CIPD qualified (or equivalent), you bring solid experience of HR/OD service delivery and will be used to diverse, unionised environments and leading change in complex organisations. Now you’re keen to apply your expertise to a brand new management challenge, where you’ll strive to improve services, build a motivated team and set strategic direction. Articulate, influential and always collaborative, you’ll inspire confidence and bring a good understanding of local government practice.
