Your new role

Based in Heathrow, this role is available on a fixed term basis for two years. The Learning Delivery Team is responsible for getting people ready for deployment in their operational roles across Home Office. Reporting into the Head of Operational Training Logistics, the Senior Logistics Manager is a new role responsible for delivery of a complex and agile learning delivery programme of events. 

This is a superb opportunity for a strong analytical and pragmatically minded person to shape the way we manage our operational learning delivery plan. This plan is the culmination of both national and regional priorities in support of key Home Office operational roles which interface with the public. 

The successful candidate will adopt key relationships with our resourcing partners and teams to forecast delivery options; create delivery plans all in consideration of trainer skills and availability. Working closely with colleagues in the logistics and delivery team to make sure everything logistical required to achieve successful delivery of learning is in place. 
What you'll do day-to-day

  • Creation, maintenance and continual improvement of delivery planning tools (currently utilising MS Excel) 
  • Stakeholder management of all resourcing relationships to make sure most current recruitment forecasting and actuals are reflected in plans 
  • Forecast delivery options so Operational Leaders can make effective start date decisions on future workforce recruitment 
  • Liaise with Operational regional hubs to make sure induction events are being appropriately planned and deployed 
  • Work with HR Business Partners raising any issues impacting delegates (eg. Pay & Travel) so freeing up training colleagues to concentrate on training 
  • Work in partnership with Senior Training Hub Managers briefly in a timely and effective way future planning and implications/opportunities 
  • Work in partnership with Senior Logistics Managers (Trainers) so delivery plan considers new trainer onboarding and progressive delivery capability and capacity 

Skills Required

Essential

  • Experience co-ordinating the delivery and implementation of work; identifying and managing risk to inform future plans 
  • Able to think strategically and translate that into pragmatic recommendations and solutions 
  • Strong planning and management skills, with experience managing the workload of diverse teams 
  • Experience successfully leading and delivering projects in a large, complex organisation 
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to distil multiple views into high quality solutions 
  • Evidence of working with and effectively influencing senior stakeholders, communicating regularly on progress 
  • Experience of people and budget management 
  • Demonstrable application of planning skills at a large scale in operational environment involving people and programmes/events 
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills with experience of compiling data analysis in the form of a data dashboard 
  • Evidence of collecting needs and translating that into plans with variances 
  • Self-organised with ability to prioritise work depending upon urgency and impact 
  • Ability to influence others to achieve outputs and logistical requirements in support of delivery 
  • Experienced in problem solving, utilising external resources (people and other) to achieve resolution
