Your new role

Based in Folkestone. This role is offered on a fixed term basis for two years. The Skills Implementation Lead is responsible for mapping the implementation of skills and competence from initial learning phase into the workplace. You will lead the review of all current tutoring and mentoring arrangements and resources across Border Force initially, making recommendations to future proof the transition of skills. 

This is an exciting opportunity for a learning professional with assessing; standardisation; coaching and mentoring experience to be at the forefront of work- based skills application. You will be an integral part of the Home Office Learning Delivery Team working through others to shape, create and support implementation of a wider learning transformation agenda. p

What you'll do day-to-day

  • Conduct a complete review of existing work-based mentoring offer; including content and resources 
  • Conduct a needs analysis across Border Force senior stakeholders to ascertain future model requirements 
  • Presentation of findings and costed recommendations to relevant Governance Boards for approval 
  • Responsibility for the co-ordination and implementation of agreed plan on time and to budget 
  • Risk analysis, management, mitigation, and dashboard-based reporting 
  • Benchmark with similar organisations nationally and globally to continually challenge and enhance our own best practice 
  • Working closely with Head of Operational Learning Delivery & Head of Learning Design to make sure most is made from continual improvement and assessment. 

Skills Required

Essential

You should be able to demonstrate that you are able to deliver against the key responsibilities in the job descriptions provided and will need to be willing to travel. You must be able to provide all the documents we need to complete your pre-employment screening and security clearance. In all roles, we will require the following knowledge, skills and experience: 

  • Operational HR experience, with knowledge of learning and development theory 
  • Highly organised and able to prioritise effectively against competing demands 
  • Demonstrable experience as a strategic learning professional, able to develop and implement capability strategies and plans in support of business performance 
  • Evidence of diagnosing capability gaps, identifying creative and innovative learning interventions 
  • An exceptional communicator with the ability to partner effectively and excellent stakeholder management skills 
  • Excellent facilitation and negotiation skills, with experience influencing others and the ability mobilise stakeholders to deliver 
  • Experienced people leader– ideally across multiple sites nationally – comfortable managing complexity and working with ambiguity 
  • Hold a recognised professional learning qualification 
  • Member of a recognised learning professional body 
  • Experience in supplier management including budget responsibility 
  • Strong leadership capability as part of a senior learning leadership team 
  • Highly organised and able to prioritise effectively against competing demands 
  • Evidence of working collaboratively across teams and external suppliers 
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills and strong stakeholder management skills
