Background

This is an exciting time to be joining the House of Lords Administration (the Administration). Supporting the House through all of its business, planning for the Restoration and Renewal move out of the Palace of Westminster and re-shaping our culture means that we need effective, timely and professional organisational development to enable us to be resourced and skilled for the future.

Working closely with the HR Director and the Deputy HR Director, as Head of Organisational Development you will help pilot the Administration in using organisational development to help us improve our effectiveness, the theme of our People Strategy 2018-2021.

As you will see from the job description, we have a long way to go and have much to do – it’s a big role with many demands upon it.  If you’re up for the challenge of getting stuck in and helping us on our journey, we’d love to hear from you.

The Role

To lead the Organisational Development (OD) Centre of Expertise in resourcing and developing House of Lords staff in the short and long term.

The Person

The successful candidate will have the following skills/experience:

  • Experience in designing and implementing OD strategies in complex organisations and achieving successful outcomes and business benefits.
  • Expert knowledge in current learning and development techniques, including successful talent management programmes.
  • Evidence of creating development programmes and implementing an employer brand which corresponds to the organisation’s culture.
  • Evidence of embracing change and effectiveness in leading others through change, building commitment and managing uncertainty.
  • Strong communication, influencing and engagement skills, including well developed written and presentational skills.
