About us

Jisc aspires to be a progressive, inclusive, diverse and flexible employer. It is our vision to enable the UK to become the most digitally advanced education and research nation in the world. It's a bold statement, but one that we're determined to fulfil.

We want Jisc to be a place where all can develop and thrive whilst delivering great services for our members and customers in an environment that attracts the best talent. No mean feat but one we have made huge strides towards in the past two years.

It's a truly exciting time to join us and the people services team who are leading a range of organisational wide people developments.

About the role

This is a varied, fast-paced, generalist role where you will work on all aspects of HR on an operational and strategic basis.

We're in the process of implementing Jisc's people agenda which is revolutionising the way we work. We're moving to light touch, commercially focused approaches where we provide the tools, skills, knowledge and a broad framework to help our people be great managers and leaders.

As a HR business partner you'll work in true partnership with your business areas. You'll be an extension of their team, providing consultancy, advice and options on a range of issues, coaching managers to help them achieve their goals.

You'll also work on a range of interesting and challenging projects, working strategically to ensure we meet our organisational objectives and all work within a high performing, commercially focused, and engaging working environment.

About you

You will be need to be CIPD qualified, with a solid generalist background. You'll have sound judgement, resilience and be able to work well with ambiguity and complexity. You will be used to advising on complex employee relations matters, combined with familiarity of working with employee representative groups.

You'll thrive on pace and change, be flexible and pragmatic in your approach and be able to deliver to agreed timescales. You'll need to be organised and have great attention to detail.

It's important to us that you're a team player as we are a collaborative, fun team and we all pull together to get things done.

In return you will have space to grow and develop and opportunities to shine.

This isn't a role where you'll have to "fit in" with existing ways of working. We like creativity and innovation and you can really make an impact and help to shape the agenda.

Benefits

We're working towards being a flexible organisation. Working hours and location can, to an extent, be set by you. You can regularly work from home or if you prefer can work with your peers in our open plan offices. We focus on output rather than presenteeism so if you're delivering and doing a great job - its fine by us.

Our benefits are pretty good too - we offer 25 days holiday (plus 3 days Christmas closure), contribute a huge 18% to your 8% for your pension from day one, and can provide discounts with various IT suppliers (amongst many other things!).

At Jisc we celebrate diversity and know that it's critical for our success. We are continuing to drive an inclusive culture, so if you are great at what you do and embrace our values, we want to hear from you.

Location

This role can be based in Manchester, London, Oxford or Bristol.

You'll need to be able to travel as we have offices in London, Oxford (Harwell) Manchester and Bristol.
