Hays Human Resources is excited to be working in partnership with Huntingdonshire District Council on recruiting a Strategic HR Manager to join their management team, this is a pivotal and influential role in driving transformation across the Council. The Human Resource Team is currently being restructured to ensure that the team is effectively placed to ensure the HR&OD function effectively supports the transformation the organisation is undergoing and the successful candidate will be in a great position to influence the eventual conclusion. 

The Strategic HR Manager will join the Council at a time of innovation and change and this role will provide leadership and strategic advice to key stakeholders including the Senior Management Team on how to effectively modernise working practices, both within the organisation, but increasingly across strategic partnerships. This role will lead the Human Resource service, and work closely with the Senior Leadership team, the Transformation programme and partner organisations to ensure they build, develop and inspire teams to deliver significant outcomes across all aspects of the council and the wider locality. 

This is an ambitious Transformation and modernisation programme that seeks to drive growth and investment in the local economy whist at the same time ensuring the organisation, delivers great results for Huntingdonshire at the best possible value. Empowered to challenge the status quo and bring best practice from across the public and private sector, this role will drive through organisational change and support continuous improvement to services and provide key leadership on how the organisation will manage its people going forward. 

The Strategic HR Manger will be a Chartered Member of the CIPD, and have extensive experience in progressing organisation development programmes and overseeing HR Policy’s for a diverse and demanding workforce. You will have experience managing a team of HR professionals and will ideally have previously held a HR post in a Local Authority. You will be an excellent leader, have empathy, and make sound judgements reflecting political astuteness. You will be confident in presenting to and engaging with a range of key stakeholders including the Senior Management Team, Leaders, and Members, and will be a key face of Huntingdonshire District Council. Most importantly you must have drive, ambition, and passion to be at the leading edge of the change agenda and embodying the recently developed “iCare” corporate values.
