We are seeking an Employee Relations Specialist to be a trusted business partners who delivers increasing value by creating and sustaining first class ER and IR services that enable the organisation to lead in their field.


The Employee Relations Business Partner is responsible for delivering Employee Relations and Industrial Relations Services throughout the organisation

The central objective of ER is to ensure our organisation’s treatment of employees is fair, respectful, and consistent with our framework of their core business values and objectives. To support that objective, this position’s responsibilities fall into proactive and reactive categories. The individual will work as a project manager on proactive programs that improve local and network employee relations.
 



The role:
Ensure timely and compliant handling of all assigned Grievance and Discipline Requests and provide advice and counsel to leaders

Support management of Grievance and Discipline requests

Manage assigned operational activities to achieve target key performance indicators, operational level agreements and service levels to meet customer service standards.

Drives direct interventions with Managers and employees on most sensitive cases and or escalations.

Stay current on UK employment practices. Ensure workplace policies are current and in compliance with applicable local laws and notify management of regulatory changes

Develop staff capability, knowledge, skills and understanding by organising frequent functional/ operational training and knowledge sharing activities for members of the team. Delivers employee relations training to management, as needed.

Conduct workplace climate assessments and participate in significant workplace events

Make recommendations on continuous improvement opportunities to enhance provision of services by reviewing and providing feedback on operational processes, policies, standard operating procedures and work instructions and introduce key improvement plans for execution.

Independently own large scale, network-wide projects that improve the employee experience
 

Partner and influence Senior Leaders when necessary to ensure a positive employee experience
 

Partner with senior managers and HR teams to create and sustain positive employee relations programs and best practices
 

Design, collect, and analyse multiple levels of employee feedback
 

Analyse, diagnose, design, and revise people programs, policies, and practices to sustain positive employee relations

The individual also will work reactively on critical employee relations issues that are crisis-oriented and typically can only be successfully completed with limited time. Balancing time between projects and crisis-response is a critical component for success in the position.
 

The person:

Degree educated and CIPD qualified

Previous experience gained within a head office, manufacturing or logistics environment

Progressive HR experience is required, preferably with a focus in Employee Relations, Industrial Relations, Human Resources Generalist experience, managing complex investigations, addressing employee misconduct, managing complex investigations, improvement processes, providing guidance to management, and/or discipline management.

Experience working in a union environment is preferred.

Experience identifying capability building needs and delivering training is preferred.

Strong leadership skills; operates as a leader

Demonstrated track record building strong stakeholder management and influencing skills is required.

Ability to establish a culture focused on speed, accountability and continuous improvement while building employee-centric repeatable and sustainable processes is required.

Relationship management, coaching and collaboration skills, with leaders and employees at all levels is required.

Experienced in shaping solutions and driving business results, with strong communication, change management and collaborative partnership skills with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the effective execution of HR solutions across the enterprise is required.

Experience with identifying trends/insights and translating findings into recommendations is required.

This position requires an individual who has significant employee and industrial relations experience, deep subject matter knowledge, and strong communication and interpersonal skills that enables the individual to work successfully and independently on a broad spectrum of employee relations issues and projects.
