HR Director – Market leading manufacturing & logistics
Location: Midlands with UK & European travel
Salary: £110-140,000 + impressive benefits
Reporting to the Chief People Officer and the UK Chief Executive, this person will serve as the primary business partner and HR support for the Directors of this market leading UK business. Additionally, this role will own and assist with global people projects. This individual will also partner with the leadership teams to align HR/people-related actions to the functional strategic and operating plans, as well as provide direction and leadership to the HR team within the UK. The HR Director will work with leadership teams on a broad range of HR-related items, including organisational development and effectiveness, talent management and acquisition, succession planning, change programmes, and employee relations. The role will also be responsible for supporting and deploying various corporate and divisional initiatives to support the company’s culture, values and guiding principles.
The Human Resources Director aligns people strategy & people management solutions with the business strategy by understanding business, market and industry trends, providing insights for future talent needs in order to build talent and leadership capabilities. This role acts as a change catalyst to realize the long term people strategy as an integral member of the business leadership team.
The objective of this position is to deliver upon the business initiatives and facilitate the sector and business function strategies through collaboration, people leadership and expertise in organisation effectiveness, design and development. This role requires an experienced hands-on client
facing business partner that will provide effective coaching to leaders and
employees.
The role:
Partner with the GM’s and functional clients as strategic business/human resource leader.
Business Partner: Understand and anticipate business priorities and contributes to the development of the business strategy
Understand business context, issues, and challenges to provide coaching to leaders
Use business knowledge to provide effective solutions that align with business goals
Ensures execution of the people strategy
Partner with the management team to understand key performance issues, objectives, and drivers and converts those needs into people management solutionsLeads the people element of M&A integrations and divestments
Change Champion: Embrace change and understand strategies to address and reduce employee resistance
Challenge the status quo, champion new initiatives and act as a catalyst for change that drives continuous improvement in business performance
Drive organisational and cultural change
Coach leaders on leading change, engaging employees and effectively building capabilities
Support delivery of the people strategy within the organisation and drive business results through the identification and development of targeted HR/OD interventions to deliver performance
Talent Manager and Organisational Designer: Select, retain and develop the right talent and capabilities ensuring effective high calibre succession plans are in place and delivered in a timely manner
Develop and implement proactive and innovative talent management solutions to deliver business results
Understand and analyse organisational capabilities to proactively develop and implement organisational design and structure improvements to support delivery of the business strategy
Coach, challenge and support managers in their role on people development and organisational related processes
Operational Support: Implementation of initiatives, balancing both global and local needs, understand common global frameworks, share best practices, maintain flexibility to meet local needs
Support roll out of HR solutions to the business unit, acting as a champion, engaging stakeholders, challenging and coaching managers to gain buy-in
Develop tools in collaboration with Centres of Expertise and HR Operations to maximise opportunities for economies of scale, global consistency and shared learning
Guide and support leaders on performance management, including interim coaching, counselling, career development, and disciplinary guidance
Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues by conducting effective, thorough and objective investigations
Advise and coach HR Managers on the reward programme, including annual merit and compensation processes
Supports achievement of overall business objectives through the design and implementation of effective HR strategy, programs, practices, policies and tools.
Develops and implements organisational structure and alignment recommendations linked to strategy. Capable of leading organisational redesign projects.
Develops, recommends and implements policies, procedures and employee feedback tools designed to promote and monitor a positive employee relations climate and the accomplishment of company objectives.
Coaches and develops high performing plant HR and staff and supports them in driving effective recruiting and retention strategies and other HR initiatives focused on meeting human capital needs.
Deploys an effective employee communications strategy to provide updates on current business performance and allows for employee feedback on issues affecting the workforce.
Ensures the company is in compliance with all applicable legislation regarding industrial relations, employee relations, diversity, employment, employee benefits, safety, compensation and other employee related matters.
Drive the Health and Safety agenda for the UK business
The person:
Degree in business or related field, Master’s degree preferred
Previous experience leading the people agenda for a multi-site UK business with a global parent company
Prior multi-site HR leadership experience
HR experience in the manufacturing or logistics industry highly preferred
Ability to create a meaningful talent programme ensuring that high potential candidates sit within the succession pool
Experience of driving highly educated and talented resourcing decisions to create a talent pool for the UK and broader global business
Strong business acumen, understanding how the business agenda drives people imperatives and future organisational needs
Breadth of knowledge on HR practices, procedures and HR laws and regulations
Excellent interpersonal, facilitation and coaching skills; engages and builds effective relationships across the organisation
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organisation
Proven success in project management and leading change initiatives both in the UK and globally
Experience of coaching and developing an exceptional HR team
Action-oriented with a focus on results
Managerial courage to challenge the status quo
Operates with the utmost integrity and trust
High levels of resourcefulness, influence/organisational savvy, execution skills (strategy through implementation)
Ability to balance the strategic and the practical with strong implementation and drive for execution.
