Key Tasks
- As part of the People team contribute to the development of the organisation’s People Strategy and to its implementation
- Take the lead role for the organisation in designing processes and systems for ensuring that the learning of staff is well integrated into the work of the organisation and its employment procedures and policies, encouraging a learning culture
- Based on the strategic and operational plans of the Association, work with colleagues in the Leadership Forum to identify team and individual training needs
- Establish and agree clear standards regarding mandatory training and ensure compliance with those standards
- Plan an annual programme of learning events and processes, to include a wide range of methods of delivery to suit different needs
- Deliver the agreed programme efficiently and effectively, contracting with external organisations and consultants as necessary
- Personally deliver training and coaching
- Manage the L&D budget effectively, ensuring best value for money in purchasing
- Assist the Head of People with the development of high performing leaders throughout the organisation
- Provide reports and information on L&D activity for Board and senior team meetings
- Any other accountabilities commensurate with the role

- Ability to identify and analyse learning needs and requirements within the context of a fast moving and high performing organisation
- High level planning and organising skills
- Excellent presentation skills, able to inspire and inform a wide range of audiences
- Excellent customer focussed approach
- Ability to manage a busy workload and prioritise tasks on own initiative and meet deadlines
- Flexibility to adapt to changing business and operating priorities
- Excellent general communication skills (face to face, telephone and email)
Knowledge and Experience
- Significant experience in learning and development for an organisation
- Experience of undertaking learning needs analyses and designing programmes of learning to meet them
- Experience of leadership and management development
- Experience of delivering training using a range of different approaches
- Experience of obtaining Investors in People or similar (Desirable)
- Experience in project management (Desirable)
- Experience of designing evaluating training and learning
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of how people learn
- Good working knowledge learning and development processes
- Knowledge of leadership and management frameworks
- Familiarity with e-learning platforms and practices
- Understanding of how to assess Return on Investment in L&D
