The Role
The Head of HR Policy and Advice leads a group of HR teams concerned with managing employee relations cases and developing and implementing HR policies, procedures and practices. These teams include the HR Advice Service for House managers/employees and the Members’ HR Advice Service, HR Policy, Workplace Adjustments and the (bicameral) Parliamentary Health & Wellbeing Service.
The post holder is a source of authoritative HR advice on complex or senior HR cases, responsible for delivering effective services to both line managers within the House Service and Members of Parliament, and responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures that promote high quality people management as part of a thriving parliamentary democracy.
The Person
The successful candidate will have the following skills/experience:
- Significant up-to-date knowledge of employment law and HR policies and procedures, including employee relations cases up to ET, and proven experience of advising managers at all levels
- Demonstrable experience of using HR interventions to deliver strategic aims, taking into account customer feedback and wider best practice, and as a ‘completer finisher’
- Experience of leading team(s), creating an inclusive and empowering working environment, actively working to promote diversity, and setting effective individual and team objectives
- Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (MCIPD or higher) or equivalent expertise gained through relevant work experience
