This vacancy is for an exciting opportunity as a senior member of the HR Operations Team. We are looking for a HR Senior Partner who has previously operated as a HR Partner / proactive generalist in a large, matrix organisation. The successful candidate will partner with the business by providing both strategic and operational advice, which aligns to their delivery plans and the achievement of force strategic objectives. The role is based at Force Headquarters with travel across the Greater Manchester area. 
About the role: The HR Senior Partner will design, develop and implement directly and through others, people related strategies and solutions in their area of responsibility. 

Responsibilities: 
- Provide HR knowledge and advice to support senior leadership teams for the achievement of business objectives, improving service delivery and performance 
- Develop capability of managers to anticipate, pre-empt and deal with organisational and people issues 
- Provide professional HR advice across the full range of HR activity 
- Analyse complex workforce data to identify organisational opportunities and risks and make recommendations for improvement and work with senior managers to develop and implement plans 
- Deliver solutions to business issues, influencing, negotiating and challenging as appropriate 
- Influence business decisions and act as a coach to managers, providing challenge, guidance and risk based advice as appropriate 
- Develop and implement pragmatic HR solutions to improve performance and embed a culture of continuous improvement and openness to change
About you; 
• Chartered MCIPD qualified 
• Significant experience / solid generalist HR skills in a senior HR position in a large, multi-disciplined organisation – supporting, engaging and motivating senior leader and delivering organisational change 
• Ability to develop a culture of integration and partnering with senior stakeholders, proven in the early identification of issues and agreed structured approach for management 
• Demonstrable track record in developing HR initiatives that deliver business outcomes and develop organisational capacity 
• Confident and effective relationship builder with strong stakeholder management and coaching skills 
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of employment law, diversity & equality and organisational performance 
• Ability to enable the business to build a high performance culture – coach, counsel and advise management in people management and leadership so that they can maximise employee performance 
• Credible individual who can influence and build effective working relationships at all levels of GMP 
• Ability to implement and drive cultural change across the services 
• Manage escalated employee relation cases 
• Possess excellent written communication skills – ability to produce strategic reports and documents and undertake presentations to a variety of target audiences.

Greater Manchester Police have been informed of potential personal tax implications for members of the 1987 Police Pension Scheme, who retire and take a pension between the ages of 50 and 54 inclusive and then take up employment as a Police Staff member. Members of the police pension scheme whose age is between 50 and 54 who are re-employed as a Police Staff member have to meet certain conditions to keep their PPA and to protect against personal tax liability charges on any payments paid before the age of 55. One of those conditions is that a break of at least 1 month is required where the re-employment is ‘materially different’. However, if the role is not deemed to be ‘materially different’ then a 6 month break is required.
