The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) delivers some of our most fundamental public services. Our work spans criminal, civil, family, and administrative justice and we are also responsible for making new laws and safeguarding human rights. We work in partnership with other government departments and agencies to serve the public, improve the justice system, and support victims of crime.

We are currently engaged in one of the largest transformations in Whitehall and will radically change the justice system to reform courts and prisons over the next ten years. To support this process, the Chief People Officer Group has begun a complimentary programme of change to make its service more focused, streamlined and relevant to the business. This means putting the 70,000 people who work for the MoJ at the centre of what we do and rethinking our service offer to drive an ambitious programme of change.

To help us meet this challenge, we are looking for a forward thinking HR leader to join the team. This is a new role, bringing together staff and services from different parts of the Group.  For this reason, a key task will be to build unified and integrated services, getting the basics right and delivering high impact outcomes. This means managing a dual focus upon the day to day delivery of operational services and the longer-term strategic workforce agenda.

The People Group Director, Operations and Strategy is a key contributor to the strategic and operational direction of people related services for the MoJ.  Leading a team of six divisional directors and a wider workforce of approximately 150 people you will provide overall direction to shape people related operational services, working collaboratively with stakeholders and service users to align resources and wherever possible meet expectations.

There has never been a better time to join the team as we start to broaden our remit, deepen our impact and drive a programme of transformational change across the wider organisation. With a focus on helping to re-design services and build a workforce for the future, we are keen to match our ambition and passion with the energy, talent and commitment to deliver it.

If you share our commitment to change and feel excited by the idea of joining an organisation with a powerful ambition and believe you have the skills to lead the team to outstanding success, we would be delighted to hear from you.
