Head of HR 

(Part time flexible – minimum 21 hours over 3 days) 
 

Optometrists have a major part to play in the health of the nation. They examine eyes for eye health problems and to enhance people’s quality of life by making them see more clearly by prescribing and fitting spectacles and contact lenses.

The College, a Royal Charter body and registered charity, has a unique role to play in supporting our 16,000 members through professional development, guidance and research to ensure they are well placed to deliver the highest quality eye care for their patients. 

The role

We are looking for an experienced HR professional to help us to achieve our business goals through the delivery of a professional, comprehensive and efficient HR service to a small, dedicated team of employees. 

In addition to providing operational support and advice, the successful candidate must add value by taking a strategic lead in developing and implementing organisational development.

Skills and experience required

You will have a breadth of HR experience, be CIPD qualified with a strong knowledge of employment law. Excellent written and spoken communications skills will be essential, in order to win trust and support at all levels coupled with the ability to consult, negotiate and influence. You will be flexible in your approach to tasks undertaken.

We will be looking for proven experience in an HR generalist role supporting all stages of the employment journey. This will include learning and development experience and proven contribution to strategy development, policies and procedures.
