Job Details

Public Health Wales the National Public Health Institute in Wales.

This is an exciting time to join Public Health Wales. We are seeking an ambitious Deputy Director to lead the ongoing development of the People & Organisational Development team and the services we provide. The successful candidate will contribute to our work across the directorate that will support Public Health Wales’ exciting new long-term strategy Working to achieve a healthier future for Wales, 2018-2030.

This strategy has seven interlocking strategic priorities, each with its own set of outcomes to transform health in Wales. To realise these outcomes, our People and OD function must ensure our 1700 staff are equipped and enabled to succeed.

Success in the role will be achieved through supporting the Director of People & OD in setting the workforce strategy to deliver on a range of initiatives to attract, retain and develop our current and future workforce.

The successful candidate will be an experienced People and OD professional with Chartered Fellow CIPD status, a motivational leader with a clear vision of how they want to shape and motivate the team.

Bringing a track-record of success at a senior level in a People and OD / Human Resources function, this is a fantastic opportunity to make an impact on our organisation and for Wales. You must be innovative and flexible and have experiences of leading teams in large complex organisations. You will act as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to directors within the organisation. You must therefore be able to influence effectively at this level.

Although occasional Wales wide travel will be required, the role will be based at our modern offices at Capital Quarter in the centre of Cardiff and only a short walk from Cardiff Central Railway Station.

An assessment centre will be held on Tuesday 30th April 2019.
