Director of Professional and Organisational Development

University of Leeds

Ref. CSODP1020

Salary: Competitive

Leeds

The University of Leeds was established in 1904 and is one of the largest higher education institutions in the UK, renowned globally for the quality of teaching and research.

The University strives to achieve academic excellence within an ethical framework informed by values of integrity, equality and inclusion, community and professionalism.

The Director of Professional and Organisational Development is responsible for a portfolio of activity designed to underpin the successful achievement of our strategic plan. We are currently refreshing the University’s organisational strategy, and this role will contribute to facilitating the HR strategy being developed in parallel.

This is therefore an exciting time to be joining the University and to be leading an area of activity that will be highly influential in creating an environment that will facilitate the delivery of a high performing organisation, where staff at every level have both the desire and capability to support our ambitions.

The Director of Human Resources welcomes applications from a professional, pragmatic, and influential candidate, who will enjoy an organisation of many different cultures, and who will relish the challenge of using their professional experience and expertise to deliver change where it is required, and to consolidate and extend good practice where it exists.

  • The post-holder will work with, and report to, the Director of Human Resources, and will be a member of the Human Resources Directorate team with the ability to contribute at both the learning and organisational development level and also to the broader HR agenda.
  • The post-holder will also be a member of the University’s senior leadership forum, working collaboratively with senior managers across both academic and professional services to contribute to wider cross-university initiatives.

The HR team is proud of its reputation and contribution, and work together in a supportive and constructive manner. The team is keen to welcome an experienced OD professional to join them to help ensure that the credibility of the HR function remains high, and that our input remains sought-after across a wide range of organisational issues.
