HR Business Partner

Full-time, 37 hours per week

£38,813 – £42,683 pa

If you are an experienced HR Business Partner, CIPD qualified, with outstanding communication skills, this is a great opportunity to take on a diverse and stimulating role. You will be joining a small forward-thinking HR advisory team, where everyone’s contribution is noticed and this is a great opportunity to build your skills and experience.

Working alongside the Head of HR and OD, you will build strong, professional relationships throughout the organisation, providing business-focused advice, guidance and coaching. You will be key to ensuring that we attract, develop and retain talented people who are fully engaged and empowered to contribute to our future.

Strong generalist HR experience (particularly around employee relations) and an up-to-date knowledge of employment law are both important, together with excellent influencing skills. You should also have the ability to help us move away from a ‘one size fits all’ approach and develop innovative solutions to meet individual needs.

Our staff matter to us so if you join us you will benefit from a working culture designed to support your wellbeing. As well as a rewarding career your offer would include:

  • a financial package with entry into the Local Government Pension Scheme, generous leave entitlements, cycle and car lease salary sacrifice options, a reward platform with discounts and cashback, and discounted gym memberships.
  • a focus on your personal growth through training and development, the chance to take part in wellbeing activities, volunteering, and charity campaigns, and internal groups and forums.
  • a focus on your health and wellbeing through a Healthcare cash plan scheme, employee assistance and occupational health schemes, free winter flu vouchers, and funded onsite health checks, and a range of family friendly policies to support a healthy work / life balance – as part of which we are open to discussions about working hours for this role.

Interested? Then please apply, or for an informal discussion contact Anne-Marie Scott, Head of HR and OD on 01256 845549 or by email to

Closing date for applications: Wednesday 22 May 2019.

Interviews will be held on Friday 31 May 2019.

The council signs up to the Disability Confident scheme (formerly known as the ‘Two Ticks’ scheme).  If you have declared a disability on the application form we can guarantee you an interview if you meet the essential criteria for the job.
