We're looking for an accomplished Human Resources professional with a firm grasp of employment law, to join us as a HR Business Partner and advise and support on People initiatives and complex HR issues.
Our People Directorate is responsible for developing and implementing people management objectives across Shelter and its trading company - STL. We also partner Shelter's various directorates and departments to ensure we provide tailored, pragmatic and robust people management solutions to business challenges. In particular, we support and advise our 1,250+ staff on employee relations issues and ensure HR policies and procedures are developed and evaluated. We also manage restructures and transfers, employee engagement, talent management, reward and recognition, staff development and recruitment, payroll processes, internal communications and volunteering. Put simply, you can expect plenty of challenges ahead.
About the role
As HR Business Partner, your role will involve partnering the organisation to understand business needs and advise on People initiatives that support the delivery of our business objectives. It will also involve working with other Business Partners in the wider People directorate to deliver cultural and structural change management initiatives that have been tailored for the needs of the business. Supporting the Head of HR Business Partnering in the continued development and delivery of a wider People plan will be important too, as will working with L&OD colleagues to create, deliver and evaluate training. And when it comes to acting as the main point of contact for complex employment relation cases, again, we'll rely on you to deliver.
About you
To succeed, you'll need an HR qualification (ideally CIPD) or an equivalent level of experience that includes working at HR Business Partner/Senior HR Officer level within a charitable organisation. We'll also be looking for a successful track record of advising managers on employment issues such as disciplinaries, sickness absence, grievances and redundancy. Used to managing and developing a team, you're proactive, customer-focused and adept at leading change that in turn leads to improved performance. What's more, you enjoy working collaboratively for the good of a business and are great at building a network of good relationships and developing a thorough understanding of an organisation, as well as the wider sector.
Benefits include 30 days annual leave, the possibility of flexible working, enhanced family friendly policies and opportunities for learning and development.
