We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR Systems and Payroll Specialist to join our team which provides a full HR service to EMBL-EBI's 600+ staff of researchers, engineers, developers and other professionals from all over the world.

Reporting to the Senior HR Officer you will work closely with HR generalist colleagues in Hinxton and collaborate with counterparts in EMBL headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany. Your role As our HR Systems expert, you will provide advice and training on best practice use of relevant modules of our SAP system, ensure data integrity, and lead on reporting and the provision of HR analytics.

Building on previous experience, you will oversee the preparation of the monthly payroll and advise colleagues on pay and benefits delivery. Responsibilities include:

  • lead on HR systems, reporting, and processes relating to pay and benefits
  • oversee monthly payroll preparation
  • monitor and assure the integrity of HR/payroll data
  • provide reports and analysis to support decision-making and monitoring
  • handle claims for EMBL benefits – education grant, home leave and others
  • contribute to the overall performance of the HR function by proposing solutions and participating in improvement projects, and by liaising with other functions in the administration and external service suppliers

You have A university degree and training in human resources management or equivalent such as business administration.

Proven expertise in HR systems, reporting and analytics.

Previous responsibility for payroll/delivery of pay and benefits.

Conscientious attitude, high numerical accuracy and good organisational skills.

Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work in a team and the desire to provide a high quality service for staff at all levels in the organisation.

The ability to identify and respond to changing priorities, and work independently in your area of responsibility while also supporting the team.

Excellent spoken and written English.   You might also have SAP knowledge and experience.

Good working knowledge of a European language other than English. Experience of working outside your home country or in an international environment.
