HR Generalist

Full time (35 hrs/wk), fixed term, maternity cover for 6-12 months

Based central Reading, Berkshire

Salary £35,000 - £40,000 FTE pa plus benefits

Can you hit the ground running in this maternity cover role? We want to hear from you!

If you are an experienced HR professional with a generalist background in all things HR, we need you to join our great team and organisation to cover a period of maternity leave.  You will provide both proactive and reactive HR support to our staff and line managers and take a lead in key areas, such as employee benefits and reward.  As you would expect, no two days will be the same; at a high level these are the main areas you will be involved in:

  • Managing relationships with pay and benefit providers and maintaining our existing benefit schemes
  • Handling the HR-side of payroll processing each month (UK and Hong Kong) by liaising with our Payroll Supervisor
  • Managing holiday buy/sell windows and all associated communications
  • Undertaking project work linked to organisational objectives
  • Advising line managers and staff on policy and procedures, including conduct, performance and sickness matters, and managing health/sickness referrals
  • Helping out wherever required to ease workloads, including contract preparation.

You must be AssocCIPD with current employment law knowledge and have good pay and benefits experience.  All-round, high-level communication skills are essential, as are digital skills – MS Office, SharePoint, and working with multiple IT systems including HR systems.  We undertake a lot of face-to-face work with our employee stakeholders but there are also high volumes of email and Skype communications (staff are both office and remote-based).

At UCEM we expect all our employees to demonstrate our values: Passion, Integrity, Excellence and Support.

University College of Estate Management (UCEM) is the leading provider of supported online education for the Built Environment. Currently celebrating our 100th year as an institution, we have a wealth of history and experience in providing the highest quality learning opportunities.
