Volunteer Role Description Role Title: Volunteer Programme  Support

Date Opportunity Promoted: 22.5.19

Proposed Start Date: ASAP

Minimum number of hours per week: 3

Time and Day Required :

Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, occasional weekends. Flexible working options would be available e.g. working from home

Minimum length of commitment we hope for:  ideally 6 months

Report to: Volunteer Programme Coordinator

Role Overview: to support Volunteer Coordinator in the recruitment and support of volunteers and clients within the centre at Greyhound Road, and field based across the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham

Key Task Descriptions:

  • To support the In Touch Befriending including reviewing client referrals and volunteer applications, conducting interviews/assessments, and making client and volunteer matching recommendations
  • To act as first contact department representative for external telephone contact and centre drop ins
  • To assist with volunteer and client communications and events as required
  • To assist with maintaining an up-to-date, accessible volunteer and client database (Charity Log), and supporting volunteer/client records and spreadsheets

Experience Required:

  • Experience of working in a people related role, for example Human Resources, recruitment or customer services, volunteer management - any people related /customer facing discipline would be desirable
  • Not necessary but would suit CIPD qualified/studying
  • Ability of working as part of a team but also with key stand-alone responsibilities
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office, Social Media such as Facebook and online communication platforms such as emails

  • General Induction

Volunteer Support:

  • Induction, Supervision and volunteer get-togethers.
  • Personal development training plan to support personal development/skill development within the role
  • Access to Age UK wide volunteer intranet
  • Manager available if information, coaching or support is required.
  • Travel expenses are reimbursed.
