Retail Learning Manager

This is an exciting role for an organisation development and learning expert with strong commercial skills to broaden your experience. Working for a supportive global company that believes in investing heavily in the careers and development of all our employees.

What’s the role?
As Retail Learning Manager, you’re going to be a vital part of influencing and shaping the way we develop our employees. Working across Europe and South Africa, you’ll strategically lead and coach your team of 13 country learning advisors to develop Shell Retail staff across multiple disciplines, and also for the indirect workforce on our Retail sites.

Much will depend on your commercial and strategic skillset, and your ability to create and deliver a highly effective learning strategy that can work across diverse, global business settings. More specifically, you’ll need to ensure local and regional learning plans meet business priorities, as well as overall global targets. You’ll identify learning gaps and spot opportunities for improvement, drive innovative learning solutions that are cost effective, sustainable and bring real value to Shell Retail. Along with meeting our expected high standards and guidelines and any relevant legislation.

Naturally, you’ll need to call on excellent leadership and coaching skills, as you confidently develop your team and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, from business leaders to external audiences and government agencies.

Where you fit in
You’ll be joining our global Organisation Development & Learning team within Shell Retail that is part of the Shell Downstream organisation, with a focus on achieving our overarching commitment to give our Retail customer a positive experience at every site, on every visit, every day.

What we need from you
We expect you’ll be degree educated with significant organisation development and learning experience, preferably within retail. Alongside your leadership experience skills directly managing teams, we expect you’re a keen self-starter who is passionate about developing people. Beyond that, we’re keen to hear from men and women with as many of the following on your CV:

  • A background in organisation development and learning (diagnosis, design and delivery) will be an advantage.
  • Experience in influencing and collaborating with a wide variety of stakeholders including in a Global virtual working environment.
  • Experience of having worked in an operational environment will also be ideal.
