Introduction to this role
To provide generalist support to the HR team assisting with the general day to day functionality of the department.
The role will provide a high quality of administrative support, employee relations and employee engagement. You will also have the opportunity to input into and assist with larger strategic projects such as employee well-being, diversity and inclusion, and learning and development.
The role will provide an excellent opportunity to learn a huge variety of HR skills and knowledge in a lively and friendly small to medium sized business.
Key Responsibilities
You will assist the HR Manager with the day to day tasks of the department to ensure the HR function for the company is efficiently and effectively undertaken, which shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Maintaining all manual and electronic employee files with compliance to GDPR
- Responding to staff queries in person and via email
- Liaising with Walker staff to book travel and accommodation through our corporate supplier
- Managing the recruitment inbox, ensuring all candidates receive a response
- Arranging interviews, booking meeting rooms and follow up with candidates
- Sourcing, shortlisting and interviewing for entry level or graduate roles
- Administration of all new starters, collecting information and setting them up on HRIS
- Referencing of all new starters and completing references for current employees and leavers
- Completing ID Checks for all new starters
- Creating induction packs and presenting induction meetings for new starters
- Ensuring that leaver procedures are maintained, including assisting at exit interviews
- Managing data on our HR System and being the main point of contact for any issues
- Setting up, implementing and training staff regarding any change of HR System
- Setting up quarterly ‘Welcome to Walker’ sessions, Training Sessions and Financial well-being talks
- Producing reports from the HR System as and when required
- Updating phone lists, floor plans and organisational charts monthly to be sent around the whole Group
- Managing the work experience programme, selecting candidates and running their induction
- Liaising with our graduate work placement recruiters to set up the summer programme
- Co-ordinating well-being and social schemes such as massages, flu jabs and reading scheme
- Assisting in ensuring the monthly payroll spreadsheet is up to date
- Handling data entry checks for all benefit providers
- Co-ordinating letters for Bonuses, Long Service Awards, Promotions and Pay Increases
- Administrating of the buy, sell, carry over holiday scheme and bank holiday adjustments
- Assisting with the HR monthly newsletter and internal communications
- Answering phone calls to the HR team
- Assisting with other research and project based work as requested by the HR Manager or Director
Skills and Experience Preferred
- Preferably have studied HR or have some previous experience working in an HR role
- Ability to deal with people of all levels in a professional and friendly manner
- Excellent attention to detail and highly organised
- Highly proactive and self motivated
- Ability to prioritise tasks and effectively manage own time
- General awareness of HR documents, processes and employment law
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
