This is an excellent long term career opportunity for a professionally qualified HR generalist with a background in manufacturing companies to join this well-known, growing, successful multi-site manufacturer of specialist products. With a turnover in excess of £100m, a significant employee base and a broad product portfolio, it operates through a number of business streams, has had significant investment in capital plant and equipment and is looking forward to further significant organic growth.  It has an excellent reputation for the quality of its products, innovation and design and it is a market leader with advanced vertically integrated operations. 

This key appointment reports to the Board and carries responsibility for the full HR mix across the business. With the support of a small HR team you will operate as a key business partner and adopt a very hands on approach as required in a growing SME.  It offers a broad canvas on which you can make an impact on the business and involves many elements including defining the HR strategy, implementing agreed HR programmes and processes, ensuring the right level of recruitment throughout, providing performance KPI’s at all levels, employee and union relations, training and development, Health & Safety and the legal framework and also importantly supporting the business through the provision of a pragmatic high quality HR function that works both operationally whilst also setting the right HR roadmap for the future. 

A candidate with a professional background in manufacturing on an upward curve in their career is required. You will need to have a good quality university degree, additionally be CIPD qualified and be able to demonstrate a professional training in HR gained in world-class complex manufacturing environments. You must also be up to date with current best practice and be attracted by the broad involvement in the business that this role demands. 

As a member of the senior leadership team it is also important that you are comfortable and fully understand the hands on nature of working in an ambitious SME such as this.  The client is looking to make this a long term appointment with scope to grow with the company and you will be expected to live in the North West and within a reasonable commute of the M62/M6/M56 corridors.
