The House of Commons Service supports the House and its MPs in performing their parliamentary duties. Our 2,800 staff are a remarkable group of people with an amazingly rich and varied range of skills and experience – ours is a truly ‘live’ environment, employing chefs and clockmakers, barristers and baristas, engineers and librarians.
The dedicated and talented Human Resources professionals supporting the House and its Members need to be flexible and responsive to the demands of an organisation undergoing a major transformation. Our aim is to become a modern, cost effective, forward-looking function, which is seen as a trusted partner and which supports a truly engaged workforce.
You will work closely with our newly appointed Managing Director, Human Resources & Diversity to shape and deliver a best-in-class HR service. Leading a team of c65, you will be responsible for the ‘engine room’ of the function, including business partnering, advice & policy, and HR services. Your teams will advise both the House’s staff and Members’ offices, and you will also oversee the bicameral health & wellbeing service we deliver to both the Commons and the Lords. This is a demanding but rewarding role, and we are looking for an exceptional professional to assume a truly unique portfolio at a time of unprecedented change, both for the House and for UK politics as a whole.
An inspiring leader, you will drive a culture of customer focus and high performance, where a valued workforce is supported and developed to deliver exceptional service. Outstanding communication skills, powerful credentials in motivating teams, and proven success embedding change to cultures and behaviours are essential. You will combine a strategic mindset with first class operational leadership and bring a demonstrable track record in the delivery of sustainable performance improvement, introducing fresh-thinking, alternative perspective, and best practice. Equally important will be your ability to influence, advise, persuade and inspire at all levels.

Closing Date for applications which should be submitted via the website is 12 noon Friday 19 July 2019.
